We all know that families enjoy sunshine holidays in foreign countries. Sometimes however it isn’t always possible. Maybe your job is not paying so well, or perhaps you have a couple of young children but only one wage coming in. As I write this, we hope that we are coming out of the recent recession, but money is tight. If any of this is true for you I strongly suggest that you should consider, or at least look at camping for your next family holiday.

So you are off on a camping trip, you have the coolers loaded, the tent is packed and you are ready to go! Have you considered the one thing that can make or break any camping trip, your sleeping arrangements? A camping mattress is a pretty important factor in the quality of rest that you will get on your vacation. If your travel plans include sleeping in a cabin then you might be alright with an air mattress but if you plan to sleep in a tent then you might want something a bit more comfy.

1. Obstacle Course
Obstacle courses are always a fun way to expend some energy and enjoy the outdoors. This game can be played by children of all ages. Using what is already in the campsite, create a fun obstacle course, keeping in mind the ages of the children who will be playing. Use camp chairs, firewood, the tent, trees, picnic table, and anything else you like to set up the course. Once you’ve specified what each person has to do to get through the course, set a timer and get started. For older children, perhaps they would have to answer a riddle in addition to the physical requirements in order to go on to the next area of the obstacle course. At the end, have prizes such as cookies, fruit, or lollies for the winners.

One of the best places to camp in Oregon is along the Oregon Coast. There are numerous State operated parks and also private camp grounds.
Our favorite parks on the coast are Beverly Beach and Sunset bay. Beverly Beach is located on the central Oregon coast just north of Newport and Sunset bay is located on the southern coast by Coos Bay.
